2008 One Sky Band

Beloved Friends,

In my travels, people often ask me: why is your band called One Sky; and why is it always different musicians each year? Well, it kind of works like this: Each year when the tours finish, I get out my address book and start connecting with everyone - seeing who has the time, the energy, the enthusiasm for the next year. Musicians are like anyone else: they have the same rents and car payments to make, the same job obligations to their employers - not to mention their girlfriends! So that's the main thing: availability. Who can take time off to be on the road, away from home for one or two months at a time. One of the beautiful aspects of taking care of the music in the Osho Commune for many years was I got to meet hundreds of beautiful and talented musicians from all over the world. So I have a big address book!

About the band title . . . I tried this name and that over the years and finally realized: though the musicians may be many, the music is one. One Sky says it all. And somehow, it always seems to work out that I end up with the most amazing bands each year - maybe different combinations of this and that - but always amazing. Priya will laugh when she reads this. She has seen me year after year shake my head and shrug my shoulders in New York at The Abode (the tour's last event, usually): How can it get any better than this? And then it does, as the next year's band takes it up a notch.

Life's lessons for me are in trusting and watching. So with a little patience, soon enough this page will be filled with the photos of all the wonderful individuals who WILL make you dance this year - and like you have never danced before. This much I can promise. So, see you soon!  Love, Milarepa
